Mandy Case, originally from Liverpool, and Carrigaline native Ian Leech first met through mutual friends, and had their first lunch date soon after in Fermoy. Ian opted for an intimate and romantic proposal after a meal in Cork city, and of course Mandy said yes. Following that, the couple selected November 23, 2018 for their wedding date as it was this date exactly five years prior that the pair went on this first date. The Imperial Hotel in Cork city was selected as the ideal venue for the pair’s winter wedding day.

Memorable moments

Ian recalls his bride walking down the aisle as the highlight of his day, while Julie references her daughter and Ian’s involvement in the ceremony as an unforgettable component of her day. “Both my daughter and Ian recited beautiful poetry during the ceremony. That will stay with me forever,” she reveals.

Personal touches

“I made all of the bouquets and had a romantic brooch bouquet for the service. I made this with sentimental pieces given by family and friends. I made a lighter silk flower bouquet for photos afterwards as the brooch bouquet was quite heavy. Everyone complimented them and I was thrilled I had made that extra effort. Plus, I get to keep them forever as souvenirs of our special day,” Julie says.

How was your experience with The Imperial Hotel Cork?

“We had guests from all over the world, so we wanted a city centre location not far from an airport. It was attending the Imperial Hotel’s wedding showcase that was the deciding factor, as what they had to offer far outweighed any other location. Lynda O’Sullivan,  and all the hotel staff were outstanding. Lynda listened carefully to all of my requests and executed everything perfectly. The Events Manager James Gunter was fabulous at the service and reception. The day itself was like a dream come true and the hotel was decorated tastefully and romantically. I felt surprisingly relaxed as I knew I was in such good hands. The food was amazing, the bridal penthouse breath-taking, and all accommodations and treatment of our guests was outstanding. I will forever have happy memories thanks to the professionalism of the team at The Imperial.”
