Treasa O’Riordan and Daniel ‘Dani’ Romano first met at a house party over a decade ago. The pair got chatting and exchanged numbers on that night and from there a romance began to blossom. Dani popped the question in their shared home in Macroom. “He proposed on a Saturday morning while I was in bed. He used our three beautiful dogs in the proposal and it was perfect,” Treasa recalls fondly. The couple selected October 21, 2017 as the date for their wedding day, with a ceremony in St. Finbarr’s Oratory Gougane Barra followed by a reception in The Imperial Hotel in Cork city.

The big day involved some unanticipated guests, the relentless Storm Ophelia and Storm Brian whom took over the country earlier this year. “Ophelia arrived on the Monday of our wedding week, leaving us housebound for the day. The phone lines and electricity were down which wasn’t ideal. News of Storm Brian came then for the Friday night before our wedding. I was wondering if we would even make it to Gougane Barra,” Treasa recalls.

Thankfully, the big day went ahead as planned. “When I landed at the church I really didn’t know what to expect and I wasn’t sure if all of my guests would even be there. We fell in the door and everyone was crammed into the little church and started clapping at my arrival. As the music began and I saw all my smiling guests who had travelled through such horrible conditions to be there, I was delighted. It was all worth it for that moment,” Treasa adds.

Proud dog owners, they opted to have a subtle dog theme running throughout their wedding. “We had a picture of them on the back of our mass booklets, we had paw prints on our wedding cake and a cake topper of us and the three dogs. We also donated money to Rehoming Cork Pets and each guest received a pack of greeting cards from there as their wedding favour,” Treasa explains.

How was your experience with Tara Donoghue Photography?

“Tara and Dave were excellent on the day. They arrived early on Saturday morning in the middle of the storm after driving for well over an hour in horrendous conditions, which we were so grateful for. They were so calm and relaxed and put us completely at ease. They captured amazing shots of the morning and it was a real credit to their skill and professionalism as we were confined indoors due to the storm. I highly recommend them as they are so professional and good at what they do.”
