Cork woman Elaine first met Austrian native Harald in 2012 on a dating site, followed swiftly by their first date in Glanmire. Harry proposed while participating in the Ballycotton 10 run. “I walked out to meet him 300 meters from the finish line. When he dropped to one knee I started to help him up and encourage him to keep going, but he was fishing a ring from his pocket and proposing. Confusion gave way to shock and to happy tears,” Elaine reveals. Following the impromptu proposal, the couple set their date to May 1, 2015 with a ceremony in the North Cathedral, and the reception in Maryborough House Hotel.

 Memorable moments

The couple’s first dance is a highlight for them as it was very personal and unique to the pair of them. “We had a five-song mash-up as our first dance that had been choreographed by the fabulous Derek Long. It took months of rehearsals to get it right but it was so worth it,” Elaine reveals. The bride also cherished the opportunity she got to stop off at St. Finbarr’s  Hospital on the way to the reception and visit her uncle who was too ill to attend.

How was your experience with the Maryborough House Hotel?

“The venue was perfect from start to finish. We are delighted to have chosen The Marybrough. From the initial enquiries to the day itself the team were truly professional and delivered exceptional service. All our guests were blown away by the amazing setting for the drinks reception. The magnificent gardens were a stunning backdrop for photographs and the hotel facilities were ideal for our international visitors. The food was incredible – all of our guests were raving about it. We could not have wished for a better venue and will treasure these memories forever.”
